Soak seed for 24 hours at room temperature. Using deep trays (or pots) sow thinly in a well-drained gritty soil-based compost, covering 1/8" to 1/4" depending on seed size. Top-dress with 1/4" of small gravel. Cover with glass and keep in total darkness for one month. Germination can take many months, depending on the type. During this time, never let the compost dry out. Seedlings should be kept growing as long as possible, and potted up only when necessary. |
